The website is called baguette because it uses Pierre2Pierre (get it?) connections for data transmission.
baguette is a website that allows you to copy and paste content across devices without signing up.
baguette uses WebRTC to ensure that your information is never stored on a static or dynamic database and is only exchanged between your own devices so you don't have to worry about data retention.
baguette is intended to be a universal, light-weight copy-paste platform for sharing things like essay paragraphs, dish recipes and Zoom links across devices. Do not use baguette for critical and/or personal content such as credit card information, home addresses, phone numbers or objectionable content. Use some commonsense, preferably your own.
Yep, no databases. The more technically-inclined can probably take a look at the WebRTC documentation but what basically happens is opening the same board (entering the same board code that is) on multiple devices allows you to communicate directly between these devices over the internet, no database involved.
Since I don't need databases, the website runs on approximately $10/mo (there's still a server involved) so I don't have to ruin the user experience by putting up apps. Having said that, I accept donations from people whose lives are made easier by baguette.
Short answer, no. You can actually try this for yourself. Create a board and write some pins like "paste2paste is the best thing since sliced bread!" and hit Submit. Then join the board using the same board code from another tab. No pins, right? The pins you sent are only ever received by people in the board at the moment you hit sent.
Even better, we don't store the messages to begin with so there's nothing to delete! The messages are shared to the connections in the room as you hit sent and that's it. What-you-see-is-what-you-got. The magic of WebRTC!
